Introduction
The 'Open With' menu can let you choose what application you want to use to open certain files by right-clicking. For example, you may want to open a JPEG file in Photos rather than Apple's Preview. It is designed so that it will show you all the applications installed on your Mac which are able to open that particular file.
However, it is possible that over time, the 'Open With' menu can get very long as you install/remove applications on your Mac. This can also lead to duplicates appearing in the list as well as ghosts of applications which once were.
There are many reasons for these issues to occur, and although they don't result in anything major, it can be rather annoying. One way of solving this issue is a reset.
