Introduction

So you're running out of storage and need to clear some of your memory. A good place to start is by clearing out your photos, but despite clearing out all your photos, the storage meter on your iPhone/iPad still says that there is often several gigabytes of photos still left. You've checked your camera roll and your Recently Deleted section, but there doesn't seem to be anything in there - what's going on?

Curiously, iOS can be the culprit here. It hides older Recently Deleted photos, which still exist on your phone, but are totally hidden. The reason they seem to be hidden is something related to the date set on your phone. So despite you not being able to see them, they are still taking up precious space on your device's memory. Luckily, this problem is easy to rectify.

    • This solution is based around your iPhone's date and time settings

    • Curiously, it can reveal photos in the Recently Deleted album which were previously hidden, but still taking up space

    • We will re-enable this at the end of the guide, so don't worry

    • And then go back to the Home Screen

    • You may now find that photos which did not appear before changing the date are now present

    • And then return again to the Home Screen

    • We're on our way to getting the date of your phone back to normal...

Finish Line
