Introduction

Upgraded to macOS 10.10 and above and getting an odd Java message at startup? It's not a big problem and can be fixed with a simple install direct from Apple themselves.

If you're originally confused by this message, don't panic. This message appears even if you've already installed the latest version of the Java runtime. What this message really means is that your system is running something which is looking for an older version of Java - one provided by Apple themselves, before they handed this responsibility to Oracle (Java's makers) themselves.
